About me

Designing learning with purpose and craft.

I'm a learning designer who believes that effective learning experiences start with genuine curiosity — about the audience, the challenge, and the outcomes that actually matter.

With experience spanning instructional design, e-learning development, content design, and quality assurance, I bring a structured yet creative approach to every project. I'm as comfortable scoping a training needs analysis as I am building interactive modules or refining storyboards to the last detail.

My work is grounded in a straightforward principle: understand the problem thoroughly, design with intention, build with care, and measure what matters.

My approach

How I think about learning design

I don't follow a single methodology rigidly — instead, I draw on established frameworks and adapt my approach to what each project genuinely needs.

01 Start with the real question

Before any design work begins, I invest time in understanding the actual performance gap. What do people need to do differently, and why aren't they doing it yet? The answer isn't always training — and being honest about that is where good design starts.

02 Design for the learner, not the brief

Briefs tell you what the organisation wants. Learner research tells you what will actually work. I combine both, designing experiences that meet business objectives while genuinely engaging the people who'll use them.

03 Use AI as a thinking partner

I integrate AI tools into my workflow to accelerate research, generate first drafts, and pressure-test ideas. It's a professional tool that enhances my process — not a shortcut that replaces expertise or critical thinking.

04 Build quality in from the start

Quality isn't something you bolt on at the end. I build review cycles, accessibility checks, and evaluation touchpoints into the project from day one — so the final product is polished, accurate, and genuinely fit for purpose.

What matters to me

Principles I work by

Rigour without rigidity

I'm thorough and methodical, but I know when to adapt. Good process serves the work — it shouldn't constrain it.

Clarity in everything

From how I write learning content to how I communicate with stakeholders, I aim for clarity. If something can't be explained simply, it probably needs more thinking.

Creativity with purpose

Creative design should serve learning outcomes, not just look impressive. I use creativity to solve problems and engage learners, not to add unnecessary complexity.

Honest, confident communication

I give straight answers, flag risks early, and make recommendations I believe in. Stakeholders value working with someone who's transparent and dependable.

Beyond work

Other things I care about

I'm a committed reader — drawn to literary fiction, history, philosophy, and the occasional deep-dive into something unexpected. I also write creatively and have a long-standing interest in visual design and typography. These aren't just hobbies; they shape how I think about narrative, structure, and communication — all of which feed directly into my professional work.

Let's talk about your next project.

Whether you need a learning designer for a specific brief or want to discuss how I could support your team, I'd welcome the conversation.
